I notice this post is a couple of years old, however I will remark anyway. Would substituting the vegan butter with Applesauce or some other nonfat/non oil make this flop? I know fat are generally the key to softness and/or flakiness, however I am off limits per medical causes. I will most likely try half batch and see the way it goes. Love the minimalist ingredients.
